How We Are Conducting the Study

  • Gathering anonymous, aggregate usage data from the utilities that service the corridor and Tri-County Region.
  • Gathering data on buildings, including type, numbers, quality, and related.
  • Surveying people in corridor about their attitudes about energy, energy efficiency, and related.
  • Determining energy consumption per: sector, building type, jurisdiction, capita, building square foot (energy use intensity) and square mile.

Community energy studies inform community energy plans and represent an intentional effort to include multiple stakeholders in determining goals for the future that often include ensuring reliable and affordable power, increasing efficiency, integrating more renewables, protecting the environment, providing economic competitiveness, and prioritizing and addressing challenges in a systematic way. This study is the crucial first step in that process for our region.
