From the Lansing State Journal:  Four months ago, planners unveiled their vision for a new Michigan Avenue: Tree-lined streets, mixed-use buildings and a rapid bus line.


Those ideas are meant to place the major east-west corridor squarely in the sights of developers and municipal leaders, who want to improve neighborhoods, attract new businesses and better link cities and townships between downtown Lansing and Webberville.

The entire 20-mile stretch, which includes Grand River Avenue and M-43 to the east, has attracted significant attention during the past year. The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission held two public forums last year to come up with ideas about improving land use, the environment and public transit. Byline
