CFL and LED bulbs use up to 80 percent less energy than their incandescent counterparts and can last up to 25 times longer. You may have also heard about the phase out of incandescent bulbs, which began with the 100-watt bulb last year.

But if you're unfamiliar with newer bulb models, the lighting aisle at your local home improvement store can be a bit intimidating at first. Which bulb is the most cost effective? Which works better? And most importantly, which will save the most energy?
