CHARLOTTE — City officials may soon be taking a closer look at Charlotte’s sidewalk snow removal policy to determine if the measure is broad enough.

The city’s current policy is very limited, requiring only that sidewalks on Lansing Road and portions of Lawrence Avenue be cleared by residents and business owners.

Charlotte’s downtown sidewalks are cleared through the city’s Downtown Development Authority.

Now, Charlotte City Manager Gregg Guetschow has asked City Attorney Thomas Hitch to render his opinion about whether or not the existing policy should be broadened.
